Take the Train to WA

Perth City Train StationOne of the most exciting ways to get to Western Australia is by rail. Perth is the western terminus for the legendary Indian Pacific rail service operated by Great Southern Rail, which spans the entire continent from sea to sea.

The three day trip is one of the world's great train journeys, and visitors can board the train in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide and travel across the country.

Departing from the East Coast, witness the beauty of delightful vineyards, river lands and the expansive, table-top flatness of the Nullarbor Plain, travel on through the goldfields, rolling wheat lands and the hills surrounding the Avon River before pulling into Perth.

Drive to WA

Connecting WA to the rest of Australia, the Eyre Highway is one of Australia's great road trips. The highway extends from Port Augusta in South Australia across the Nullarbor Plain to Norseman.

The Savannah Way is one of Australia's ultimate adventure drives, linking Cairns in Tropical North Queensland with the historic pearling town of Broome in Western Australia, via the natural wonders of Katherine in the Northern Territory.
