The Dolphins of Monkey Mia in the Shark Bay World Heritage area are famous for their almost daily ritual of swimming to shore.

Times for the dolphin experiences depend on if and when the dolphins visit the beach. While they are only offered fish during their first three visits between 7.45am and 12 noon, they often visit the beach outside these times to forage and socialise. Guidelines involve not approaching the dolphins too closely and especially not touching them.

Specially trained rangers control the interaction sessions, choosing a few lucky onlookers to hand feed the dolphins. At Monkey Mia you'll learn all about these friendly creatures.

Researchers at the Dolphin Information Centre at Monkey Mia carry out important studies into dolphin interaction and are sometimes on hand to tell you about their findings.

Volunteers are welcome to assist with dolphin experiences, for more information please email monkeymiavolunteers@westnet.com.au.
