  • After a series of workshops at Fox Studios Australia, Luhrmann and his team travelled to Broome and had the privilege of camping with Walter's family at 80 Mile Beach, Western Australia. It was during this time that Luhrmann and the family decided they would take the leap and become involved in the film together.
  • Walters, an 11 years old indigenous boy from Broome, travelled with his extended family during filming. Australia is his feature film debut.
