Just 40 kilometres off the Gibb River Road lies the Homestead of Digger's Rest Station. Accessible only by 4 Wheel Drive, Digger's Rest offers warm hospitality amidst the gorgeous scenery of the Kimberley.
Cast and Crew of Baz Luhrmann's epic movie 'Australia' spent 21 days at Diggers Rest Station filming, in particular the magnificent Boab trees that grow on the property. The property is well known for its extended horse treks, which take visitors back in time to when the original settlers of the land moved cattle throughout the Kimberley. |

Things to do
|
- Experience the Kimberley by horse back one of the horse treks offered from the station. Follow the trails mapped out decades ago by stockmen, past watering holes, rolling hills and towering rock formations. Whether you head out for an overnight ride or an extended 11 day tour, your journey will take you through magnificent scenery. Each night stop near a watering hole for a dip, dinner and stories around the fire.
- Drop your fishing line into the King River to catch a Barramundi or two at one of the station's secret spots. The station supplies all equipment and your knowledgeable guide will assist you hook the catch of the day.
- Stroll along the King River taking in the scenery and admiring birdlife, and other fauna in its natural environment.

- Bunkhouse - for something a little cosy and very convenient, choose to stay in the bunkhouse situated next to the old homestead.
- Bush Hut - teat yourself to a Bush Hut, nestled amongst a grove of Boab trees or perched on the bank of the King River. All huts have a fantastic view of the Cockburn Range.
