Staircase to the Moon
4 March – 28 October 2008
Staircase to the Moon occurs from March to October along the coast of Australia’s North West.
This natural phenomenon is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting on the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide - creating a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching up to the moon.
Local night markets are often held at Town Beach in Broome on Staircase to the Moon dates, where you can sample local fare, purchase crafts and see talented local entertainers perform. Check the local visitor centres for more details.
