AirAsia X flies to Perth

Low-cost airline AirAsia X announced today plans to begin direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Perth, Western Australia.

Western Australia is a popular choice for Malaysians, with more than 40,000 visitors arriving each year seeking a relaxing sun soaked holiday or unique Perth shopping experience.

The arrival of a new low-cost airline flying direct to Perth allows more Malaysians to experience Western Australia's unspoilt beaches, amazing scenery, big blue skies and friendly faces. The Real Australia.

In announcing the new flights, AirAsia X Chief Executive Officer Azran Osman Rani said the airline would feed passengers from its extensive global network into Perth, effectively creating a low-cost link from South East Asia and China to Western Australia.

In 2007 alone AirAsia X carried 18.5 million passengers around a network of 90 routes across South East Asia and China.

Kuala Lumpur to Perth flights are scheduled to start on November 2, initially with six flights a week, increasing to daily services in March 2009.

To celebrate the announcement, seats for the new flights are now on sale at the Air Asia website.
