Cape Grace Wines is one of the great little wineries of Margaret River. Family-owned and operated, located a stone's throw from the stars of the Wilyabrup Valley, lies Cape Grace's carefully tended vineyard, planted by Robert and Karen Karri-Davies in 1996. Small batch hand-crafted wines are made on-site, with all red wines hand-plunged and basket pressed.
The cellar door is open daily, and you can meet Karen or one of the team and get some insights into the joys of being a small winemaker! Before entering the tasting room, enter through the wine storage area, which displays a selection of Robert's photographs and paraphernalia.
Annual production is 1500 dozen cases, and the wines include a dry Chenin Blanc, wood-aged Chardonnay, Cremant de Grace Sparkling Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Shiraz, Shiraz, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cane Cut Chenin Blanc Dessert Wine.
Being a small producer the majority of wines are sold at the cellar door and website.
During vintage, you may see some fermenting-action in the winery. If time is available you can tour the winery and get the wine-making process explained.
Outside and adjacent to the cellar door is Robert's private collection of Australian parrots in a natural bush setting. The Great Egret, an occasional visitor to the dam, is featured on all Cape Grace Wines labels.
