Lake Walyungup is a salt lake about 8.6 kilometres south-east of Rockingham. The Lakes Cooloongup and Walyungup continue to be of spiritual significance for the local indigenous population as the place where the Sea Waugal laid her eggs. In the local Nyungar language, Walyungup means "place where Noongars talk".
This shallow saline lake is bound in the north by Safety Bay Road and in the east by Mandurah Road and features a 5.8-kilometre walking trail popular with locals and dog walkers. Be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen and water along with you when you visit.
