June marks the beginning of the Kimberley season, when the region bursts to life with new growth, greenery, and flowing rivers, rockpools, and waterfalls. The 2024 season brings a host of new experiences and adventures.

Houseboat Adventures at Willie Creek Pearl Farm
Willie Creek Pearls in Broome offers new multi-day adventure getaway packages in partnership with Kimberley Getaway. Located 38 kilometers from Broome, guests can stay on ‘The Barra Shack,’ a luxurious three-level houseboat with panoramic views. The three-day Adventure Getaway and the five-day Group Adventure Getaway include a tour of the Willie Creek Pearl Farm and activities like fishing, mud crabbing, and wildlife cruises.

Enjoy a Brew at Spinifex Brewery Cable Beach
Spinifex Brewery Cable Beach, located opposite the iconic Cable Beach, offers locally brewed beverages and a modern Australian menu featuring fresh seasonal produce and woodfired pizzas. Spinifex Brewing Co is Australia’s first part Aboriginal and veteran-owned craft brewery, using native ingredients like lemon myrtle, wattle seed, and Kimberley gubinge in its brews.
Women’s Only Aboriginal Cultural Tours
Broome Elder Pat Torres from Jarndu Ngaank Tours offers women’s only tours, including the Reddell Beach Walk and Talk Experiences, featuring a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony, and Water Ceremony. On the Dampier Peninsula, Jawi woman Rosanna Angus leads a four-night cultural experience discovering the culture and ‘secret women’s business’ of the local Bardi and Jawi women at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm, where guests engage in traditional activities like fishing, oystering, and collecting bush tucker and medicine.

Kimberley Cruising
The 2024 Kimberley cruising season offers new luxury options. Scenic Eclipse II begins cruising in May, providing a 6-star experience with two helicopters on board. Seabourn’s Seabourne Pursuit will offer 10-day expedition cruises from June through mid-August. PONANT, in partnership with Paspaley, introduces the boutique expedition motor yacht Paspaley Pearl by PONANT, featuring private balconies for luxury explorations.
Camp with Custodians at Lombadina
The new Camping with Custodians site at Lombadina on the Dampier Peninsula offers 35 campsites, a camp kitchen, and ablution facilities. Visitors can participate in Aboriginal cultural tours, including mud crabbing, ancient footprint tours, kayaking, and four-wheel-drive tours to Cygnet Bay, Swan Point, and One Arm Point.
Epic Kimberley Road Trips
The upgraded Fitzroy River Bridge over the Martuwarra River, opened in late 2023, connecting the eastern and western parts of the Kimberley along the Great Northern Highway. This again enables road trips through the region, connecting Broome to Kununurra and destinations like the Bungle Bungle Range, El Questro, and numerous gorges and waterfalls. The Gibb River Road, a 660-kilometer iconic 4WD adventure, offers spectacular gorges, waterfalls, swimming holes, rock art, and wildlife encounters.

Increased Flight Access to the Kimberley
A new non-stop seasonal service between Singapore and Broome launches in June, enhancing access for South East Asian visitors. This service, operating twice weekly, provides better connectivity through Singapore Changi Airport, opening the region to visitors from the UK and Europe. Domestically, Nexus Airlines' Northern Route, launched in July 2023, offers daily flights from Broome to Kununurra and onwards to Darwin, enabling same-day connections from major Australian cities to the Kimberley.
