The multi-award-winning Ord Valley Muster, set against the stunning East Kimberley landscape is truly a bucket list ‘Muster’ for every Australian. Through a diverse calendar packed with exciting events and experiences (rodeo, dining under the stars, music, yoga boats, comedy and more), to the local characters and flavour that make Kununurra and the East Kimberley one of the most iconic destinations in the world, the Muster is a truly enthralling, enchanting and magical experience for all. From humble beginnings in 2001, the Ord Valley Muster came to life quietly as a simple one-night affair – a pleasant dinner in the outback for local businesses. Since then it has grown at lightning speed to be firmly established as a pre-eminent event in the national festival calendar, being a three time Hall of Fame Inductee (2017-2011-2008) at the Western Australia Tourism Awards as well as being officially recognised as the Best Regional Event in Australia at the 2015 Australian Event Awards to name but a few notches in the Muster’s belt. The 2023 Ord Valley Muster took Silver in the Festivals and Events category at the 2024 QANTAS Australian Tourism Awards. Don't miss the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster, the iconic Kimberley festival.

Watercolours of the Coastlands features paintings of the bush and beach by Sue Kalab. Wandering and watching, looking and learning, the exhibition offers a solo showcase for those who cherish both art and nature. The exhibition displays art about Sue's years of roaming in the nearby Tuart Forest and wandering along the waterfronts, the Indian Ocean and Leschenault Estuary – orchids, birds, bush and beach. Sue's art responds to the beauty of nature's images glimpsed in time spent on a bush walk or an amble along the beaches. Her work endeavours to portray the peaceful and serene qualities one finds in nature - the timelessness, the sense of perpetuity and nature's unobtrusiveness.

The State

The State
Look at the state of this place! Four states are lorded over by foppish drag-king Daddies, all under the thumb of an elusive and shadowy figure known as Mummy. Democracy is falling apart at the seams. Young optimist Flung embarks on a nationwide quest to find his mother. A series of increasingly absurd catastrophes sees Flung team up with a group of radical leftists called the Common Dog Fucks (CDF). In the face of overlord Mummy and her ruling Daddies’ political clusterfuck, Flung and the CDF must get revolutionary to save their nation. The State is a visually arresting, scathing commentary on the state of Australian politics. Phallic puppetry, glorious drag, and biting comedy see the state of our nation dissected like never before. The State has been generously supported by Creative Rhinestones and Glitter Haven.

Our story is not one story, but many stories to share. Balancing Act features Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander works of art from the State Art Collection. In this exhibition, you will encounter a vast range of material revealing the wide scope of First Nations truth-telling and art-making practice. Radical observations about the ups and downs of life are placed side by side with expressions of relationships with Custodial Country; the locations and places artists and communities care for, according to their kin and family ties with place. Different versions of history are told, at times emotional and challenging, alongside moments of great beauty and poignancy. Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists use their cultural production to investigate feelings and unpack ideas around identity in the wake of colonisation. Others use their work as a way to support and express their own grief and healing, as well as to express joy and cultural belonging. Balancing Act invites you to be surprised, delighted and challenged by the stories told through the eyes of First Nations artists and their works of art.
