'Akribie' is the German word for meticulousness, representing extreme diligence and precision, sometimes to the point of obsessive accuracy.

This concept perfectly reflects Nina Papiorek's approach to photography. While these images emerge from the expansive field of street photography, they demonstrate a careful attention to composition, lighting, and the capture of decisive moments. Each photograph is deliberately considered, reflecting a personal interpretation of the perfect moment rather than leaving anything to chance.

Papiorek's subjects are encountered purely by chance, and all images are candid. Patience and dedication are essential to her practice. The recurring presence of the individual within her work highlights the relationship between humanity and its urban environment. Simultaneously, this figure invites viewers to reflect on their own place within the spaces shaped by modern life. Despite the innovations of contemporary society, these photographs suggest that humanity can appear remarkably small within its constructed surroundings.

This exhibition is part of the Head On Photo Festival Perth, presented by the Head On Foundation.

Nina Papiorek's visual language is marked by a distinctive aesthetic that captures the interplay of lines, architectural forms, and people in her black-and-white compositions. Her work merges street photography, urban landscape, and fine art photography through a minimalist lens.
