Keep your eyes on the ocean as the best professional surfers on the planet battle raw swells, big barrels and shallow ledges in the Margaret River Pro, held in May each year. Set against Margaret River’s spectacular coastline, this iconic surf competition challenges even the most seasoned professionals.

With more than 75 major surfing breaks, Margaret River’s rugged coast has earned a world-class reputation as a destination for consistent big waves. The Margaret River Pro has been part of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour since 2014, with the world’s elite male and female Championship Tour surfers taking on some of the most demanding and powerful surf on the planet. Come for the festival vibes and to get up close to your surfing idols at this mobile event which transforms Surfers Point into an atmospheric event hub.

Away from the waves, Margaret River’s natural beauty is synonymous with barefoot luxury. Discover award-winning wineries and restaurants, traverse ancient caves and tall-timber forests, and sink into the sand at one of the many immaculate beaches after a day spent surfing, walking, canoeing, fishing or mountain biking.

The Margaret River Region in Western Australia's South West is an easy 2.5 hours’ drive south from Perth (Boorloo), or a 3 hour direct flight from Melbourne with Jetstar, with direct flights from Sydney taking off from March 2024.
