Travel inland where the history of the salt mining by the original
settlers brings a whole different perspective to the island. This is
where the lakes and woodlands can surprise you with remnants
of fossils, abundant wildlife and interesting flora such as the
Samphire bush. Here the colour of the lakes can vary from
brilliant white through to an amazing pink at certain times of
the year.
We exit the inland area where we will explore the pictureperfect
turquoise waters and white limestone sandy beaches of
several bays such as Little Paraquet Bay. Time for a break we
stop at Geordie Bay where you can buy a drink at the café. From
here we meander along the coastal beach side paths of
Longreach Bay to the protected and pristine waters of the Basin,
the waters here are perfect for snorkelling and swimming and
attracts most visitors to the island. Travel from here enjoying
the magical vistas from Bathurst Lighthouse and then back
through the relaxed Settlement area of the Island back to our
office.
