Cathedral Gorge is an astonishing geological formation with amazing acoustics, located within the ranges of Purnululu National Park.
A spectacular walk amongst the towering beehive domes leads to the iconic natural amphitheatre and permanent pool. The return walk is a Class 4, two-kilometre, and will take over an hour.
Water pounding through here in the wet season has created a huge amphitheatre of red rock with a pool of water in the middle (bring a wide-angle lens for your camera). The acoustics are so good that music has been played within the gorge.
To enter the Bungles requires a three-hour, 52-kilometre, four-wheel-drive journey or a flight in by helicopter or small plane. The Bungle Bungles are a hub of walks including Mini Palms, Echidna Chasm, Piccaninny Creek and Cathedral Gorge (including Beehives walk).
