Lake Kununurra was formed after the completion of the Diversion Dam near Kununurra. It is part of the Upper Ord River that stretches for 56 kilometres from the Lake Argyle dam wall through to the Diversion Dam.

As the lake meanders through the country it passes through gorge systems and rock overhangs with the possibility to view an abundance of wildlife and diverse fauna. Lake Kununurra is a great location for a variety of activities. You can go swimming, fishing, cruising, canoeing, skiing, bird watching and exploring.

To embrace Lake Kununurra there are a variety of tours, cruise in your own private boat or head to Swim Beach to capture the final part of Lake Kununurra. There is even a chance to catch the elusive Barramundi as this area have been stocked with fingerlings. Visit in the wet season the Lake comes alive with numerous waterfalls to be counted.
